St Canice Feast Day 2018

A COMING TOGETHER OF TWO IMPORTANT FEASTS

Today we mark the Feast Day of our Irish patronal saint, St Canice.

We take this opportunity of having sixty of our community together for the annual BBQ to draw 12 prizewinners for those who contributed to our appeal for recurring donations to support our sister parish in Railaco held on St Ignatius Feast Day in July.

This was our largest one-day effort for East Timor with donations of $12,000. Thank you.

Claudine belting-out the tune, ‘When Irish Eyes are Smiling’, distracted the hearts and minds from enjoying sausages and chicken skewers while Michael and Robyn broke into song adapting the lyrics to involve the children we support at the Railaco Jesuit Mission in Timor.

When children’s eyes are smiling,
Sure, ‘tis like the morn in Spring.
In the lilt of children’s laughter
You can hear the angel’s sing.
When Timor hearts are happy,
All the world seems bright and gay.
And when Timor eyes are smiling,
Sure, they steal your heart away.

Thank you, all.
